Joe Bauman, one of the unknown records in baseball

Did you know?

Joe Bauman, was the professional baseball player with the most home runs in a season, with a total of 72, in 1954, while playing for the Roswell Rockets in the minor leagues until Barry Bonds surpassed him with his 73 in 2001?

Bauman, did it in only 138 games and his numbers that season were incredible. He hit a 400 average, 199 hits, 228 RBI’s and besides that he walked 150 times.

Joe was a native of Welch, Oklahoma. He served as a military before, during and even after his baseball career.

Since 2002, the award for the leader in home runs in the minor leagues bears his name. Bauman died on September 20, 2005.
