Giancarlo Stanton “The beast”: Welcome to the Yankees

By Alfredo Alvarez

Miami, Flo- Not even Hollywood could write a better debut for the Most Valuable Player of the National League last season. Giancarlo Stanton, hit 2 balls out of Roger Centre in Canada, and the Yankees beat the Jays 6 to 1.

Just a few minutes after the home plate umpire said: “Play Ball”, with Brett Gardner on base and one out, Stanton, in his first at-bat with the Bronx Bombers, put the ball in orbit, to quickly put his team ahead on the scoreboard 2 to 0.

Severino shine on the mound from the very first man he face in this 2018, Devon Travis, which he struck out. He would finish with a total of 7 K’s, 5.2 innings pitched, a single and a walk.

In the fifth, the Bombers would add two more. Once again, Stanton’s powerful bat would show, connecting a double that brought “The Judge” Aaron Judge into score. And then Gary Sanchez, another of the powerful bomber, would bring “the beast” Stanton home with also a two base hit.

The Blue Jays would score their only run of the game with a homerun by center fielder Kevin Pillar at the first pitch thrown by Dellin Betances, in this newly initiated campaign.

When the Yankees started to packed their bags to go back to the hotel and rest, “The Beast” Stanton, decided to drop everybody’s jaw by destroying a base ball into the center field hotel at Roger Centre. No mercy! 435 feet from the plate. The exit velo of the ball hit by this portentous slugger was 109.5 MPH.

In the bottom of the ninth and as if to show how awesome his team is, Aaron Boone, who today made his MLB debut as manager, brought the “Cuban Missile” Aroldis Chapman, who prescribed two strikeouts to three of the batters he faced and of course shooting bullets to Gary Sanchez’s mascot at more than 100 MPH, as he used to.  In this way, the New York Yankees, got their first victory of this newborn 2018 season. Tomorrow the Yankees will face, once again the Toronto Blue Jays. For the Bombers, “The samurai” Masahiro Tanaka, will climb to the mound of sighs, while the Jays will have the right hander Aaron Sanchez.
