With less than twenty-one days to go until the start of the MLB season, Scott Boras is bending over backwards to get the best deal for himself and Carlos Correa.
Correa replaced his former agent with Boras during the labor suit. That means that Scott Boras would have to share a percentage of the Puerto Rican contract if Carlos accepts any of them, and we all know that Boras does not like to leave a dollar on the table or share his profits.
Boras on offense
Last year, the Astros had let it be known that they weren’t interested in signing Carlos Correa to a $300 million deal, but things seem to have changed. Carlos wants more money than Corey Seager’s $325 million and intends to break Francisco Lindor’s record with the Mets, which is when Boras gets creative.
There is a discussion of the possibility of the Gold Glove winner deciding to sign a one-year or multi-year deal with the option of an opt-out after the first year. If Boras manages to charm a team that has not negotiated with Correa before the stoppage and there is a deal, all that commission would go to the player’s agent.
Confidential sources say Baltimore’s offer still is the most attractive money-wise, but no rebuilding team can compete with a one-year opt-out if it really wants to improve its future.
Sources to @ConLasBasesFull confirmed the interest of the #Baltimore Orioles in Carlos Correa before the #MLB lockout. Story to follow.

At this time, it seems Scott Boras is in between O’s and Carlos Correa.
